Здесь собственно эмоциональные впечатления уже посмотревшего. Если кому-нибудь будет интересно.

..... so I got a chance to see an early showing of Fertile Ground. Not much more I can add that hasn't been touched on here without giving away the entire film. The empty theater was for some reason surprising to me. (I swear the person taking my ticket money had to search the screen for the film. Mercy.) Got my popcorn, Diet Coke, sat down and got ready to be afraid. I don't like scary movies but for Gale Harold what wouldn't I watch?

The emotional part. Seeing Gale Harold on the big screen in an almost solitary theater was fine with me. I could say out loud what I was thinking, "My gawd, look how the camera loves this man. Gorgeous." The camera wraps itself around Gale Harold and holds onto him and just stays with him no matter who else is in the frame. (A friend with me was enjoying my awe of seeing Gale Harold on a big screen more than the movie itself so we had a good time talking through the movie because it's not like we were disturbing anyone. The few other people there were doing the same thing - talking - so that part was actually fun.) I heard myself saying, "Look how he moves. Gawd, he's hot." "My gawd, he looks so young." "Oh my gawd. That move of his almost reminded me of you know who." "That love scene wasn't long enough and they didn't need to do that. Give me a break. Just show him moving." And my friend's favorite sentence of mine, "I know that backside. Hello old friend. Hello Gorgeous."

The bad part. I thought the continuity was abysmal and the editing was MISSING altogether but Gale Harold looked so beautiful I overlooked that. There were sweeping shots of I-O-W-A that made me think the director was having "art film" flashes or flashbacks - shots that did nothing for the continuity of the story looked nice but WTF? I know this was Horror Genre and the rules are more open but film is film and shouldn't "making sense" be helpfully included? The ending was half of half decent.

With all the obstacles, Gale Harold did his work all in and really well. Can't say much for the other casting. But, oh my gawd, the structure of the film was not good and I positively hated those corny chapter headings. With the exception of Star Wars, if a director has to write out anything, the words cinema continuity are compromised, aren't they? The editing made me point to the screen over and over saying, "Mistake, mistake, mistakes." I think any of us here could do better than that editing! If I had done it, there wouldn't have been any Nate goes off sequence. Haha! My edit would have been called, "The Nate Show." Gale Harold on the big screen is a beautiful thing.

Conclusion. I am so frustrated, folks. Again, another project that is not as good as Gale Harold is great an actor. He can deliver. There is no doubt about that. He is genuine in every part he plays. He dives in and he finds the character and he ALWAYS delivers that character for us to see. ALWAYS. He is a true working craftsman of an actor. So where are the great jobs he should have? He is in his prime and he needs a showcase. A couple of showcases. A dozen showcases. Is it back to cable? Is that the answer? Hello Showtime. This fine actor made Showtime millions. It's time he got a reward. Maybe mainstream isn't his forte. Maybe it's a waste of his talent. Maybe cable is where he can come alive and thrive - but he sure looked good on that big screen.

Gale Harold deserves so much better than he gets and I hope his opportunities reflect that and turn more in his favor. God knows he has showed he is a team player. He does it all. I say, "REWARD GALE HAROLD with a JOB worthy of his talent. I mean, COME ON."

Final Good Thought. Gale Harold had at least way more screen time than he gets on HELLCATS.

Хотя для Америки это конечно... короче очень жаль. И как написала тут девочка, Гейл достоин большего)
